UNCHARTED WATERS III: COSTA DEL SOL - ENGLISH EDITION 1.2, FOR MAC OS 9 This is KOEI's Japanese Macintosh game Daikoukai Jidai III: Costa del Sol (1997, version 1.2) in English. It is built on the MP3 edition: - The game's text is in English: the events and conversations, the menus, the buttons, the status bars, the names of ports, people, goods and discoveries, and the messages. - The help file (Help menu) and its viewer are in English too. - It starts without its CD, and it plays its music from 27 MP3 files in the Music folder, through QuickTime. The data files and movies are the CD's, file for file, except the help file. The English is a machine translation, checked and corrected by hand on the screens that were tried. INSTALL 1. Mount this image, or burn it to a CD with Toast. 2. Drag the folder "Costa del Sol English" to your hard disk. Keep Data, Movie and Music in it, beside the application. 3. Open "Uncharted Waters III" in that folder. The game saves into its Data folder, so play it from a hard disk. The English edition can sit beside the Japanese one; each keeps its own saved games. REQUIREMENTS - A PowerPC Macintosh with Mac OS 9. It was tried on Mac OS 9.2.2. - QuickTime 6. It was tried with QuickTime 6.0.3. - Japanese Mac OS, or Apple's Japanese Language Kit. The game checks for it, and it draws some signs with the Japanese font. - 16 MB of memory for the game (12 MB at the least). - 210 MB of disk space. LIMITS - 25 of the help file's pictures are now screenshots of the English game. 27 others still show Japanese: the battles and duels, the card game, the exchange's and the shipyard's windows, and the sea maps. - The screens that were tried: the opening in Lisbon, a new character, the town's buildings, the library's books, the market, the harbor's supply and fleet windows, and the help. The screens at sea, the battles and the duels are in English too, but were not looked at yet: a label may not fit its box there. - Only the PowerPC code is changed. On a 68K Macintosh the game is the Japanese original and still asks for its CD. - Tried under emulation (QEMU, Mac OS 9.2.2), not yet on a real Macintosh.
